CowParade is one of the largest and most successful public art event in the world. CowParade events have been staged in over 50 cities worldwide since 1999 including Chicago (1999), New York City (2000), London (2002), Tokyo (2003), and Brussels (2003). Dublin (2003), Prague (2004), and Stockholm (2004), Mexico City (2005), Sao Paulo (2005), Buenos Aires (2006), Boston (2006) Paris (2006), Milan (2007, and Istanbul (2007)

From 21st June to 21st Sept 2003, the Cow Parade crossed the territory of the City of Brussels. The herds were divided into various areas called "Cow Spots", scattered between Avenue Franklin Roosevelt and Boulevard du Roi Albert II. Brussels National Airport and the Heysel plateau punctuated the Great Walk in a more outlying way.

The choice of the various spots was by no means fortuitous. Passing by the city's key historical sites, the Cow Parade had the advantage of satisfying every kind of curiosity: to newcomers, it offered a colourful route that marks out the major districts and monuments of Brussels; to the locals, it offered a playful opportunity to take another look at the capital.

The Silver Cow by Pilar Enrich was part of the Cow Parede Brussels 2003. Made out of silver insulating foil. It showed the artist's connection to her country - Mexico. Silver is indeed a symbol of Mexico and it represents a very important product of the mining industry and one of the most important drivers of Mexico's economy in colonial times.
