Enrich at ZsONA MACO 2016

Enrich exhibits at the 2016's edition of ZsONA MACO, Latin America's leading contemporary art fair.

For the first time, the London-based artist ventures into ceramics design and creates a tableware set including contemporary design on plates and cups.

Invited by ANFORA, the largest - and one of the only surviving - Mexican manufacturers of vitrified ceramics, Enrich has designed a unique piece that will be presented at ZsONA MACO 2016 in Mexico City.

In collaboration with Anfora Studio, ANFORA's experimental branch and conceptual design studio, Enrich explored the parallels between the place of these dining utensils and their users, discerningly playing with symbolism and metaphor; two concepts which are always present in Enrich’s work.

As we have recently seen on her DNA Helix Sculpture exhibited in Trafalgar Square in London during summer 2015, Enrich has chosen to use again a spirograph as a tool to symbolise creativity. Enrich explains: “Cooking is all about creativity, therefore I wanted the spirograph shape to be present”. When deciding her design she chose only one spiro image to cover four plates at a time as being parts of a jigsaw. Hence the name of the set YIGSO.

For Enrich, mealtime is to share ideas and feelings, each plate (guest) has its place at the table, and all together make more sense than each one separated.

A plate by itself being abstract has its own aesthetics but the idea she wants to convey is that it makes more sense to eat together, rather than alone.
